Group composition

The groups

After-school care offers children from 4 to 13 years old (group 1 up to and including group 8 of the primary school) a cozy and safe place to play, relax or to participate in challenging themes and workshops after school and during school holidays.

They can play with peers, sometimes from the same school and sometimes even from the same class. The after-school care can create a maximum of 4 groups with a maximum of 20 children each.

The number of professionals that are needed, taking into account the number of children per age category, is calculated on the basis of the policy rules Quality Childcare:

Age Professionals Maximum amount
4-13 year 1 10 children
4-8 year 1 10 children

BORUS has decorated every accommodation beautifully for this group of children. The children are given a wide choice of possibilities to relax in a pleasant way. In addition, children can do their homework (under supervision).

At the after-school center of BORUS Kinderopvang, it is customary to put the different groups together at the beginning and at the end of the day, during the drop off and pick up times. This is done regarding the working hours of our employees, in order to comply with the ‘3 hour regulation’ from the moment we open until the moment we close.

Merging of out-of-school care groups

If fewer children are present on certain days a week or during holidays, out-of-school care groups are structurally merged. The permanent pedagogical employee stays with the children of the group, ensuring stability and safety for the children. You will of course be informed about this in advance. For example, the merging will be discussed during the intake interview, is mentioned on the information boards next to the group rooms and you will receive written notice of changes.

Half an hour agreement after-school care

In order to improve the flexibility of the organisation, it is allowed to have less pedagogical staff members for half an hour a day in after-school care on regular school days than are required. During study days and holidays, the after-school care applies the three-hour agreement that applies to the day care center.

For the flexibility of the organisation, it is possible to use less pedagogical staff for half an hour a day in after-school care on regular school days than required. During study days and holidays, the NSO applies the three-hour scheme that applies to the day nursery.

This implies that:

At the after-school care center Borus makes use of the possibility to use fewer professionals than that are required that day for 3 hours during holidays and study days. This may only be done during certain time slots.

These time slots are:

  • Until 9.30 am
  • Between 12.30 pm and 3 pm
  • After 4.30 pm

It is not permitted to have less staff members in the time slots between 9.30 am and 12.30 pm and between 3 pm and 4.30 pm.
