Childcare Act

Since the 1st of January 2015 the Childcare Act applies. The law only applies to formal childcare: day care for children from the age of zero to four, out-of-school care for primary school children and reception by childminders via a childminding agency. However, the childcare must take place in a registered childcare center, such as BORUS Kinderopvang.

This law regulates the quality and financing of childcare. The principle of the Childcare Act is that childcare is a matter for parents, employers and government. Parents who work and care for their children receive childcare allowances from the government. The amount of the childcare allowance depends on your income. Ask your employer, tax adviser or the tax authorities about this childcare allowance.
